This summer, the St. Louis Artist’s Guild and ArtDimensions are teaming up with hip local art and music venue 2720 Cherokee to bring you Cheapy Art, the profits of which will go towards sending a group of midwestern artists who might not normally have the opportunity or the means to study and exhibit in a foreign country to Jakarta, Indonesia, for an art tour abroad.
Cheapy Art Fundraisers take off of 2720 Cherokee’s weekly Cheapy Tuesdays, which include live music for a 2$ entry fee for those over 21 (7$ for those under) as well as 2$ drink specials. The SLAG part of the deal will bring art into the mix, by including in the events a silent art auction. Bidding for auction starts at $100, for pieces valued at $500 or more. For less expensive artwork ($75–$150), there’s also a spin the bottle for art game game in which, for $20, one can spin a bottle encircled by donated artwork: whichever piece the bottle ends up pointing to, that person gets to take home.
Live music, great art, cheap drinks, fun door prizes, and all for a great cause – how could you better spend a Tuesday night?
