Kraddy (San Francisco, CA)
Glitch-Hop / Crunk / Dubstep
http://kraddyodaddy.com/

Known as a pioneer of electronic music, Kraddy is one of the most innovative and remarkable artists of his day. He stands as a visionary in his field, a fresh voice that spans genres and artistic style. Hybridizing hip hop, dubstep and dancehall with digital edits and cuts, Kraddy's music is a voice from the future awakening our ears and minds to what ...is yet to come.

Originally from NY, Kraddy (born Matthew Kratz) began his musical career in San Francisco releasing his debut album, Truth Has No Path, in 2003. With the release of the single "Faux Show" (a remix of The Old Dirty Bastard's "Shimmy Shimmy Ya",) Kraddy became an underground favorite in the electronic music world. After a handful of vinyl breakbeat releases, Kraddy changed the game once again with his sophomore effort, The Illegal Album. Fueled by fierce beats and searing edits, The Illegal Album was a radical fusion of Kraddy's unique production chops with classic hip hop and dancehall acapellas. It was hailed as a breakthrough and soon after led to his collaboration with the Glitch Mob.

...
Cheapy Tuesday is leaving St. Louisans with no excuse... going out during the week is made easy with a $2 cover and the cheapiest bar specials in town! $2 wells and PBR pint cans all night long, a dollar off everything else, and a Schlafly PowerHour - local drafts are just $1 from 8-9pm!

Yetisburg is comprised of five talented Farmington, Missouri locals who met while attending high school. What started as a sort of joke between Jason and Cody (“You play piano, I play piano; we should start a band…”) has grown into an incarnation of music as uncanny as their name. With a vital and original sound that inhabits a genre all its own; Yetisburg flawlessly fuses the mechanical vibe of synthesizers with the energetic drive of bongos to create infectious, organic music that escapes definition.

Opportunities for Artists Dec 11, Off the Wall!

Space is limited, but still available for Artists to set up in the ArtMarket at ArtDimensions' Annual
Off the Wall Event which will be held at the new location, 2720 Cherokee St.

ArtMarket artists pay a flat fee upfront ($40 ArtD member, $55 non) and retain 100% of sales.  We provide a table and the crowd!

Details and submittal form can be found at www.artdimensions.org

Event details below...

This year's event will take place Saturday, December 11, 2010, from 7pm to 1am.

The evening will follow a similar format as previous years with a few twists and improvements. The biggest change this year is the location.  Previously held at St. Louis City Hall, the event this year will be held at ArtDimensions' new home at 2720 Cherokee.  The 15,000 sq ft, 2 floor space was A-Listed as St. Louis’ Best Creative Collaboration by St. Louis Magazine.  This venue is the perfect location for this art, music, and culinary fusion.

Advance tickets may be purchased online at www.artdimensions.org for only $10.
Tickets will be $20.00 on the day of the show.

FIRST FLOOR ENTERTAINMENT
Live Music will include: DJ Alexis Tucci, DJ Chilly C, Dogtown Allstars and Illphonics.
St. Louis’ own Street Dimensions B-boy Competition, the St. Louis Artists' Guild and Concrete Ocean's sketch groups, live art demonstrations and more!

SECOND FLOOR ENTERTAINMENT
Hip hop and Jazz dance performances by Lift for Life Academy, solo drummer Phillip McIntyre, live art demonstrations, Holiday Cherokee Photobooth.  Woven into this line up of entertainment, ArtDimensions Top Chef, Jonathan Kraft will work with other local culinary experts in creating culinary delights.  The audience will sample the delicious results. You’ll also be able to sample other local restaurants' fare including LaBeeBee's, Joanie's, and Vito's.

EXHIBITIONS
The ArtD Gallery will host three exhibitions.  The main exhibit, Off the Street, will feature work by top Cherokee Street artists Bryan Walsh, Chris Sabatino  and David Langley, to name a few.

The Off the Wall exhibition will consist of 15 artists' booths, selling hand crafted artwork, jewelry and more. Wrap up that holiday shopping with custom one of a kind items.

The third exhibit will highlight the Art Ambassadors who will be in Indonesia this November.  The documentation of their trip will be on display in the center studio and will include photos, videos, sketches and art created by the participating artists.

Upscale evening attire is encouraged and prizes for the most outrageous costumes will be granted at the stroke of midnight.

This year the event will benefit H.I.S. K.I.D.S., Inc., an organization for families affected by childhood cancer. Visit www.hiskidskonnection.org for more information. Canned food donations at the door will “buy” raffle tickets for the grand prize: a deluxe wine basket.

Burlesque performances coming to 2720

The super-star team of Anita Cookie, Clams Casino, Darlinda Just Darlinda, GiGi La Femme, and Minnie Tonka are hitting the road for DANGEROUS CURVES AHEAD: BURLESQUE ON THE GO-GO! With a squeal of tires and a cloud of glitter, they’re leaving behind the Big Apple with the top down and their tassels twirling! The performers will bring the tour’s killer moves, sexy glam and hilarious hijinks to 2720 Cherokee with local superstar Lola Van Ella and more on Wednesday Oct. 20th at 8pm.

The Dangerous Curves Ahead: Burlesque On the Go-Go Fall Tour is the follow-up to their incredibly successful 2010 coast-to-coast, 23-city Spring Tour including Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis, Madison, Denver, Las Vegas, Dallas, Kansas City, Albuquerque, and Richmond. Dangerous Curves Ahead packed houses across the country and received oodles of critical acclaim: The Nashville Scene said “It’s a veritable aureole speedwagon as the Outer Boroughs’ most buxom babes go from zero to 38D on their road trip across America!” and the Phoenix New Times called the show, “An excellent night of twirling tassels and bawdy jokes.”

About The Dangerous Curves:

ANITA COOKIE: is the charmingly inebriated burlesque star whose sparkling singing voice, dynamite shimmy and intoxicated wit have been called everything from “hilarious” (NYTheater.com) to “sizzling hot” (Go Magazine). Originally hailing from the tan line-free shores of the Pacific, Anita is a Golden Pastie Award winner at the New York Burlesque Festival, and is also one-third of the quirky music trio Gigi & Pop, winners of the first-ever “Best Variety Act” trophy at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Pageant 2009 in Las Vegas.

CLAMS CASINO: Called “a burlesque queen” by the New York Times, “spectacular” on the New York Post’s Page Six and an “NYC Culturemaker” by Time Out New York, Clams Casino is a nationally recognized producer and one of New York’s favorite stars of the bump ‘n’ grind. In summer 2008, Clams was the winner of two coveted trophies, for “Most Innovative” and “Most Comedic” at the Miss Exotic World Pageant, sponsored by the Burlesque Hall of Fame. She is also a Golden Pastie Award winner at the New York Burlesque Festival.

DARLINDA JUST DARLINDA: The Village Voice calls her a “Mastermind of Bizarre Extravaganza!” Darlinda has been working as a Burlesque Performer and Producer and internationally since 2003. Darlinda is one half of the Burlesque duo The Schlep Sisters, co producing such shows as Menorah Horah and The Burning Bush vs. The Second Coming. Darlinda is a current faculty member at the New York School of Burlesque.

GIGI LAFEMME: is one of New York City’s sultriest striptease stars and co-producer of the monthly show Revealed Burlesque at the Under St. Mark’s Theater. A Golden Pastie Award winner for Best Booty Shaker 2009 and Miss Coney Island 2010, the multi-talented bump ‘n’ grinder, go-go girl, chanteuse and pin-up model has traveled the nation performing signature acts such as “Spanking”, “Princess Leia” and “Sweet Leaf”.

MINNIE TONKA, the Sassy Semitic Sexpot, hails from the Land of 10,000 Lakes-that’s Minnesota-but is currently based in New York City. Since 2003, her striptease has been dazzling audiences with acts ranging from Streisand to hair metal, matzo and Manischewitz to Mary Tyler Moore. She’s the co-founder of Kosher ChiXXX, all-female Jewish Burlesque Revue, produces the annual Menorah Horah burlesque Hanukkah show, and more.

Monthly Artist Networking Meeting Wednesday October 6

All are welcome to meet with other area artists, learn about upcoming opportunities for artists and
SUBMIT ARTWORK for the Autumn Group Show.  Details and submittal form can be found at www.artdimensions.org

WHERE:  ArtD Gallery & Studios @ 2720 Cherokee St.
WHEN:  Wed. Oct 6, 7pm-9pm
FREE!!!!!!!!

Special Feature:  "Free Dirt" - a short film by area film maker Jim Klenn will be screened (24 min.)

Free Dirt
To get off the couch and back into the good graces of his wife (and back into their bed), Jerry the cheapskate only has to do one simple thing – find some free dirt.

Two years in the making, Free Dirt is a 24-minute movie based on a true story (aren't they all?). It was possible thanks to the generosity of LOTS of people – from professional actors, crew and musicians, to location owners, friends, an understanding wife, and a number of serendipitous events. Shot in Belleville, IL and North St. Louis, Free Dirt features the music of two awesome local bands – Free Dirt (yeah, "Free Dirt") and Tight Pants Syndrome. Jim Klenn wrote, directed and produced the movie, prompting him to consider having someone else to produce his next movie project. And maybe get a director, too. And possibly a writer.

RFT Best of 2010 list salutes Cherokee Street once again

A couple of years ago, The Riverfront Times awarded Cherokee Street with its Best Mile of St. Louis distinction.  They were right then, and Cherokee continues to earn mentions in the RFT.

The Best of St. Louis 2010 Awards have been posted for this year and once again there are more than a couple of Cherokee-related honorees.

Congratulations are in order for the following awards:

Best Place for Belly Laugh: The Improv Trick
Best Art Gallery to Die in the Past Year:  Boots Contemporary Art (sorry to see you go, Boots!)
Best Arts Organization: Sloup
Best New Band:  Sleepy Kitty
Best Local Artist:  Sarah Paulsen
Best Parade:  People's Joy Parade on Cherokee Street
Best St. Louis-Inspired Wordplay:  STL-Style
Best Junk Store: Cranky Yellow
Best New Club:  2720 Cherokee
Best Place to Slow Dance: Casa Loma Ballroom
Best Trend:  "Up with the St. Louis music scene!" is the award recipient here -- with mentions of Foam and 2720 as fab places to hear and see music.

That is quite a lot of kick-assery, Cherokee art folk!  Well done!  (Hope I didn't miss anyone -- if I did please let me know in the comments!)
