On Monday, April 25th, 2011, JKPublishing and the Saint Louis Projects are proud to release the newest chapbook by local poet Philip Gounis. Hosted by the Archive bookstore at 3215 Cherokee Street, the author and friends will celebrate the publication of Upgrading the Allusion, a handmade chapbook of poetry with illustrations.

Gounis is a poet, literary journalist, archivist, publisher, and concert and book reviewer. He is known... for his radio work with KDNA, KCLC, and KDHX FM (hosting and producing programs such as Verbatim, Off the Beaten Path, and Literature for the Halibut). His first chapbook, Some of These Have Appeared, was produced in collaboration with Firecracker Press in 2007.

Gounis will read excerpts of his newest work. Local poet and scholar Colleen McKee, along with another guest reader, will recite several pieces to commence the festivities. The event will end with a set by noted guitarist Dave Black. Doors are at 7, reading starts at 8. The Archive will have beer and wine available for a small suggested donation, and will also be open for book sales.
